SUNSET, Utah — Police have a man in custody in connection a shooting at a Sunset hotel.
The gunshots were heard around midnight at Econo Lodge, at 800 N Main St. in Sunset. Officers from multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Weber County Sheriff’s Office and Layton City Police Department, responded to the scene. Police said a SWAT team also responded.
Investigators spoke with several people staying at the hotel and everyone has been released except one man. Police said they are holding that man in custody but they have not arrested him.
“The room being rented where the shot came from was a top room. It went through the floor into the room below it, but fortunately there was no one in the lower room,” said Lt. Bruce Arbogast, Sunset PD.
Officers are still searching for a weapon and will be taking a closer look at the rooms involved once a warrant is obtained.
