Tempers run hot as line brawl erupts on ice between Red Wings and Lightning

Posted

The scoreboard read 5-2 late in the third period of game 2 of the playoff series between Detroit and Tampa Bay Friday night, but after things got chippy in front of the net it was a 5-on-5 brawl between both squads.

As the video from Sports Net Canada above shows, things began near the end of the game after a hit in front of the crease just as the whistle blew. A lone Red Wings player quickly found himself facing two guys in blue sweaters, but within seconds all five skaters for both sides were involved in the melee.

Tampa Bay held on to that 5-2 lead to win the game and move to 2-0 on the series.
