UTAH COUNTY -- Sixteen-year-old Beau Richey died after a tragic ATV crash in Colorado over the weekend.
“It’s the worst phone call a parent could ever receive,” said David Richey, Beau’s father.
David Richey's son Beau had been crushed by a rhino ATV after it tipped over and fell on him in Colorado Saturday.
Beau was taken by Life Flight to a nearby hospital. David was six hours away and raced to be by his son’s side.
“Unfortunately, I didn’t make it in time and he passed away,” Richey said.
Now Beau’s family, friends and loved ones are by his parent’s side, supporting them and celebrating the teen’s life Tuesday night.
Beau loved motorcycles, his yellow jeep and anything outdoors. But he was known for and will be remembered by his smile.
“He was the happiest never took the smile off his face. Beau I hope you’re out there right now. I know you are,” said Chris Huhem, Beau’s friend.
“You don’t come across people like that often. I don’t know how I was so lucky to know him for as long as I did,” said Ireland Elieson, Beau’s friend.
A life taken too soon but one lived to the fullest.
“He lived a wonderful life for 16 years and he lived probably a lot more in 16 years than a lot of us live in 60 years,” David Richey said.
Beau's parents say in the days since his passing countless people have told them what an example and friend Beau was to them and the joy he brought into their lives.
“It’s the greatest honor. It’s so humbling. I could not be more proud of my son,” David Richey said.
