Suspect in hostage situation dead after officer-involved shooting in Utah County

EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah — The Utah County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed a suspect was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Eagle Mountain Sunday night.

Sgt. Spencer Cannon stated just before 10 p.m. that there had been an officer-involved shooting in Eagle Mountain. He said the suspect in a hostage situation is dead.

Eagle Mountain posted a public safety alert on their Facebook page: “Sheriff’s deputies on a call on Summit Way in City Center involving a suicidal subject/hostage situation. Residents in the area should stay in their homes and everyone else avoid the area until the situation is resolved. We will update when there is new info.”
