WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - Police are looking for a suspect after a shooting that killed one man and injured a woman in West Valley City.
Officers say they were called about shots fired just before 11:30 p.m. near 7154 West and 2680 South.
When police arrived they found a 20-year-old Javier Medina dead in the driveway and a 32-year-old woman who had been shot.
Witnesses tell Fox 13 Medina was at a friend's home helping their mother with her car when at least one man walked up and opened fire.
Medina was killed and the woman he was helping was shot in the leg.
She is expected to recover.
Officers say the suspect is a person Medina thought was a friend.
Authorities are investigating what led to the shooting and looking for the suspect witnesses identified.
Police say they don't believe the suspect is a danger to the public because it appears to have been a targeted attack.
