Another wildfire breaks out in Washington County, currently at 200 acres

LA VERKIN, Utah — Another wildfire started Tuesday evening in Washington County, just hours after officials announced that the "Anderson Junction Fire" was 100 percent contained.

The new fire started at approximately 6:45 p.m., half a mile east of La Verkin. Authorities say it is near La Verkin Overlook Road, south of State Route 9, and is currently at 200 acres with 10 percent containment.

La Verkin Overlook Road has been closed, and no structures are threatened at this point.

At the initial report given around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, 12 fire engines, two water tenders, two hand crew squads and miscellaneous overhead resources were deployed.
