PARK CITY, Utah — Kimball Art Center announced the cancellation of the 2020 Park City Kimball Arts Festival Thursday, citing "uncertainties due to changing COVID-19 regulations and health concerns for artists and visitors."
“We were willing to make significant changes and scale back the event dramatically to ensure health and safety while also supporting artists, local businesses, and boosting our economy,” said Dan Lemaitre, Kimball Art Center’s board chair, in a news release sent to FOX 13. “In the end though, the ability to ensure and enforce social distancing and other safety measures among thousands of art lovers was too complicated.”
The annual three-day festival typically draws 50,000 attendees and hundreds of professional artists, the news release said.
"Money from the event supports many Kimball Art Center programs, including free art education in public schools, access to free exhibitions, scholarships for low-income children to participate in art classes, after-school art programs, and much more," according to Kimball Art Center's news release.
This year's event had been scheduled for July 31 to August 2.
