SALT LAKE CITY — The FOX 13 virtual food drive for the Utah Food Bank got underway at 6 a.m. Thursday morning and ends at 6 p.m.

It's a chance to help the food bank which has seen a huge increase in the need for food during the coronavirus pandemic.

For every dollar donated today, FOX 13 will match it up to $12,000.

The money will help support neighborhood mobile distribution operations like one happening Thursday morning.

Trucks full of food arrive in a given area and volunteers unload it and get it to the people who need it.

Each mobile distribution lasts three to four hours, and it's a drive-thru operation and those who need food never have to get out of their vehicle.

If you'd like to donate food or money, you can do so at fox13now.com/donate.

FOX 13 wants to help Utahns get back to work, make ends meet and manage the pressure of the coronavirus crisis through personal stories and practical information.
