SALT LAKE CITY — Utah is seeing a long-awaited streak of positive news about the spread of COVID-19 and the distribution of vaccine.

For the second week in a row, cases were down more than 20 percent for the seven days ending on Feb. 1.

The trend holds in most of the state, with just 5 counties seeing more cases week over week. Those counties are Beaver, Carbon, Emery, Rich, and Uintah.

Utah's vaccination numbers are consistent across most regions with two exceptions: Utah County lags other large counties in terms of doses-per-capita.

San Juan County has provided significantly more shots than any other due to receiving resources to combat high case and death rates on the Navajo reservation.

In the special Powerpoint video below, we'll walk you through this week's numbers in detail.
