SALT LAKE CITY — The annual Days of '47 Pioneer Day Celebration has been canceled for 2020 due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
In the announcement made Tuesday, organizers cited "current and anticipated circumstances" regarding COVID-19. All events, including the parade, rodeo, Pioneers of Progress Dinner, Sunrise Service, Royalty Pageant and Pops Concert, will not take place.
Organizers said the decision came after considering public health guidelines from state and local officials, and although the event's Board of Trustees said that although conditions may change before the event takes place, they had to make the decision now because of how much work goes into preparing for the event every year.
They expect to hold the full celebration in 2021.
