ELKO, Nev. — The Elko County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 16-year-old girl who went missing earlier this month and was found dead last week.

Gabrielle (Britney) Lynn Ujlaky was reported missing March 9 after she was last seen the day before getting into a green Ford F-150 pickup truck in front of Spring Creek High School.

Her body was found Wednesday in the Burner Basin area.

The sheriff's office announced Monday that her death is being investigated as a homicide. No suspect has yet been identified, but authorities say there is no indication of danger to the public.

There is an official tip line that can be reached between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily at 775-738-7002. The sheriff's office specifically asks citizens to refrain from posting tips or rumors on social media.
