JUAB COUNTY, Utah — The Rocky Ridge Fire burning in Juab County increased to 250 acres Wednesday evening.
The wildfire is burning in the mountains between the towns of Santaquin and Mona.
In a tweet, Utah Fire Info reported that structures were being threatened and that evacuations had been ordered.
The brush fire was burning close to homes when it was first reported around 3:15 p.m.
Heavy ground and air resources were directed at the fire from the time is was reported.
Heavy air tankers as well as SEAT, or single engine air tankers, dumped fire retardant on the flames.
Hand crews and bulldozers battled the fire on the ground.
They created a fire line around some of the farmland.
Fortunately the wind shifted and the fire moved away from the homes.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
