OGDEN, Utah — Ogden High School will be featured as the rival high school in the second season of "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series," against the "real" East High School in Salt Lake City, according to the Standard-Examiner.

Filming began in December, and while the first season of the show is currently streaming on Disney+, there is no confirmed date for the second season's premiere date, according to spokesperson Michelle Marron.

Season two will feature the East High Wildcats competing against North High in a "prestigious and cutthroat student theater competition," according to Disney+.

The historic art deco-style building that houses Ogden High School's has been the site of many movies and TV series, including "Touched by an Angel."

In the past, students and staff have the opportunity to star as extras, but due to COVID-19 that wasn't possible, according to Ogden High School Principal Shauna Haney.

But the new season will feature guest star Derek Hough, a Utah native, in addition to the recurring cast.
