KEARNS, Utah — A man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run accident in Kearns that sent a young boy to the hospital.
On Saturday morning, Unified Police posted on Facebook a request for witnesses to come forward if they'd seen an orange or red Camaro, pictured below.
The 7-year-old boy was riding a bike on 5085 South when the driver of the Camaro reportedly ran him over and sped away.
The boy was "banged up" but is now recovering at home, police say. He sustained internal injuries, broken hips, a laceration on his head, and road rash and scrapes all over his body.
Jesus Homero Mancinas, 23, went to the victim's home to turn himself in, according to a probable cause for arrest statement. He was booked in jail on misdemeanor charges of failure to remain at an accident involving serious injuries and driving on a suspended license.
