DELTA, Utah — A wild horse and burro adoption event is being held in Delta, Utah Friday.

The Bureau of Land Management is conducting the auction, and to encourage people to adopt, $1,000 will be provided to anyone who adopts an untrained horse or burro. It's part of theAdoption Incentive Program.

The goal of the program is to reduce BLM’s recurring costs to care for unadopted and untrained wild horses and burros while helping to enable the BLM to confront a growingover-population of wild horses and burros on fragile public rangelands.

The auction will be held at the Delta Wild Horse and Burro Facility located at 600 North 400 West.

Here's the schedule:

  • Gates open at 9:00 a.m
  • Bidding begins at 10:00 a.m.
  • First come first served at 11:00 a.m.
