SANDY, Utah — A man is in police custody after a SWAT team responded to a home on Fox Hunt Drive in Sandy Saturday.

Officers responded to the home around 11 a.m. on report of a sex offense, according to Sandy Police Sgt. Clayton Swensen. While police were en route, the suspect armed himself with a knife and barricaded himself inside the home.

All other occupants inside the home were able to safely get out, and police contacted the suspect. Police say he refused to come out of the house, and a SWAT team was called in. SWAT members entered the home and took him into custody without further incident.

The man was taken to a hospital by ambulance to be treated for injuries that were not the result of officers' actions, Swensen said.

The suspect's name has not been released.
