SOUTH JORDAN, Utah — A man has been arrested after a standoff with a SWAT team at a South Jordan home Saturday.

Ruben Chacon, 38, was arrested on suspicion of domestic aggravated assault, domestic assault, unlawful detention, domestic criminal mischief and interruption of a communication device.

South Jordan Police say they received a report from Chacon's girlfriend around 10:30 a.m. that he had showed up at her home near 3000 West and 10400 South and assaulted her. She said Chacon then held her captive and broke a cell phone she tried to call for help with. Police say she was able to escape at some point.

Officers responded to the residence and attempted to make contact with Chacon, but he reportedly refused to come out of the home or answer calls from negotiators. The South Valley SWAT Team was then brought in.

Police say several hours later, Chacon was found in the attic of the home and safely taken into custody.
