LOGAN, Utah — Thousands in northern Utah were without power Sunday morning, beginning their Mother's Day in the dark.

As of 9:30 a.m., Rocky Mountain Power showed 42 outages affecting over 1,500 customers, with most occurring in the Logan area, along with other locations in Cache, Weber and Davis counties.

By 3:20 p.m., the RMP outage map showed that nearly all the outages in Cache Valley were restored, but a total of 850 customers were still without power between Weber, Davis and Salt Lake counties.

It's not yet known what has caused the widespread outages or when power is expected to be restored.
