MILLCREEK, Utah -- One person is in critical condition after being hit by a speeding car that police say was fleeing officers Friday evening.

Salt Lake City Police spotted a car on Highland Drive near 2400 South that they believed was driven by 39-year-old Cody Trevort, a suspect in an aggravated assault at Fairmont Park, according to Unified Police Sgt. Melody Gray.

Gray said the vehicle then fled at a high rate of speed. While speeding on 900 East, the driver reportedly went around cars stopped at a red light at 3300 South. Gray said Trevort then ran the red light, collided with another car and a pickup truck, sending both into a power pole. The pickup ended up on top of the other car, while the vehicle Trevort was driving came to a stop several yards away.

He now faces charges of running from police, aggravated assault and robbery.

Two people in the other car only sustained minor bruises. The driver of the pickup was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
