WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah — A wildfire sparked Sunday in Washington County neared containment Monday.

The "Veyo Road Fire" (previously dubbed the "Veyo Pool Fire" before being renamed Monday) was started by humans early Sunday evening south of Veyo. No exact cause has yet been determined.

By Monday night, it was 75 percent contained at 2,264 acres.

Officials reported structures threatened, but no evacuations. Some residents were told to stand by for possible evacuation Sunday night, however.

One lane of State Route 18 was closed, and authorities warned drivers to be extra cautious in the area.

Multiple air tankers responded to assist firefighters on the ground.
