A 43-year-old woman is in critical condition after an accident on I-15 and 11400 south shutdown all northbound lanes of traffic.
According to the Department of Public Safety, around 2:23 p.m. a red Honda Civic was traveling northbound and exiting at 11400 S when the driver made a last-minute decision to return to the main flow of traffic and got stuck driving on the shoulder to avoid traffic. A semi-truck carrying a heavy load was in the far right lane and saw the vehicle and attempted to go on the shoulder to avoid hitting the sedan.
The sedan then became trapped between the truck and a cement barrier. The female victim was transported via helicopter to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
All northbound traffic is closed on I-15. Commuters are asked to take an alternate route while crews work the scene.
