SALT LAKE CITY — A suspect has been taken into custody after a woman was shot and killed early Tuesday in Salt Lake City.
Police say Patrice Ann Winward, 31, was booked on multiple charges, including murder and possession of a deadly weapon.
The shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. near 900 West and South Temple. When officers arrived, they found Winward performing CPR on the victim before she was later pronounced dead by responding paramedics and firefighters.
Officials say Winward was the girlfriend of the victim. According to police, the two women were involved in an argument while riding their bicycles before witnesses heard multiple gunshots from the scene.
Winward reportedly told someone to hide the murder weapon after allegedly shooting her girlfriend. A handgun was later found in a storm drain.
The identify of the victim is being withheld until family is notified.
