SALT LAKE CITY — Two people are dead after a car crash late Sunday night on Interstate 80 in Salt Lake City.

Utah Highway Patrol said the crash happened near 7200 West on the westbound I-80 at around 10:23 p.m.

When troopers arrived, they say they found two vehicles blocking travel lanes with two additional vehicles in the ditch, one of which had overturned. A semi that was involved was also located a short distance away.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene. Several others were taken to the hospital. Their current condition is unknown.

One of the deceased victims was identified as 20-year-old Conner Franco from Tooele. The other was a 17-year-old male whose name is not being released.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
