SALT LAKE CITY — Utah's capital city has reached a new level of hot.

The National Weather Service reported Sunday afternoon that it clocked 109 degrees at its Salt Lake City International Airport measuring site.

A temperature of 109 breaks the all-time high since records started being kept in 1874. The previous high was 107 — reached in 1960, 2002, 2021 and 2022.
