SALT LAKE CITY – A 27-year-old man accused of shooting and killing his younger brother at Yuba State Park on May 28 has been charged with manslaughter.

Court documents say Eric Charlton – a former US Marine – was showing off gun techniques to his 17-year-old brother Cameron Charlton while the brothers were sitting around a campfire and drinking.

The gun discharged, shooting Cameron in the head and killing him. Investigators say the shooting was unintentional.

Eric Charlton is charged with manslaughter, reckless endangerment and carrying a dangerous weapon under the influence of alcohol. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison.

Charlton is out on bail while he awaits a June 19 court appearance.
