Flash flood warning in Seeley Fire burn scar

CARBON COUNTY, Utah – The National Weather Service is reporting flash flooding in Carbon and Emery Counties has closed roads and destroyed a bridge.

A flash flood warning remains in effect in northwestern Emery and southwestern Carbon Counties until 9:30 p.m. Wednesday after heavy precipitation in the burn scar from the Seeley Fire.

The NWS reports that Highway 31 in Huntington Canyon is closed in both directions and a bridge has been lost.

Debris flows from the Seeley Fire burn scar are expected to continue to affect South Hughes, Engineer and Coral Canyons as well as Huntington Canyon. This includes the Huntington Power Plant and the Huntington/Cleveland Irrigation Company.
