BULLFROG MARINA, Lake Powell, Utah – Officials in southern Utah have found the bodies of two Turkish women who went missing on Wednesday.

According to a news release from Kane County Emergency Services, a boater in the Bullfrog area found the body of 21-year-old Merve Tokel floating face down near a popular swim beach near the Bullfrog Marina at around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Witnesses say Tokel had gone to the beach with 21-year-old Betul Eryildirim at around 3 p.m. with the intention of returning at around 6 p.m.

Crews from the Utah Dept. of Public Safety, the National Park Service and the Lake Powell dive team searched the area for Eryildirim’s body on Thursday night, finding her in about 30 feet of water near where Tokel’s body was found on Wednesday.

Both women are from Turkey and were in the area working for the summer.

No foul play is suspected at this time.
