WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - Hundreds of cats are looking for new homes, and West Valley City and Taylorsville Animal Services is helping out by bringing down the adoption cost.

Best Friends Animal Society and West Valley City and Taylorsville Animal Services teamed up to start the promotion. For just $5, you can adopt a cat that has been spayed or neutered and vaccinated.

"Five dollars is not an awful lot. You can take home a furry creature for forever home for five bucks," said Sandra Bame, adoption specialist.

Shelters are aiming towards no-kill status and hope that promotions like the $5 Feline event can help get more cats adopted.

The shelter in West Valley City has a new "Kitty Palooza" adoption suite, full of cute cats looking for new homes.

"We've got about 100 cats that are available. About half of those cats are under a year that they can bring into their home. The rest of those are over a year," said Bame.

The West Valley City Animal Services facility is located at 4522 West and 3500 South.
