LEHI, Utah - A new outlet mall in Lehi is set to open just in time for the holiday season. The Outlets at Traverse Mountain are expected to provide a boost for the local economy.
The Outlets at Traverse Mountain - located off I-15 by the Cabela's in Utah County - feature more than 40 specialty shops like Coach, Nike, Under Armour and Le Creuset.
Retailers are now putting the finishing touches on their stores just in time; Black Friday is just two weeks away and they anticipate shoppers will fill the new stores.
"The store mixture in this mall is fantastic. If you need cookware, or gifts, or clothing, or even socks; there's a sock store here which I think it really funny and really neat," said Justin Dunham, who works at Le Creuset.
The 224,000-square foot mall took about a year to build. Before that, mall management researched what Utahns want in a shopping center. They say people would prefer open-concept shopping.
"People want to take advantage of the environment rather than be enclosed in a sterile big box or regional mall," said Teri Sunderland, general manager.
Utah County shoppers say they're happy they won't have to drive to Salt Lake County to do their shopping anymore. The outlet opens on Friday, Nov. 16.
