Unified Police investigating double murder, arson

Two people were found dead in a house fire Friday morning in an unincorporated community of Salt Lake County.

Unified Police are now officially investigating the deaths as a double murder, and the fire that crews were initially dispatched to is being investigated as a likely arson.

Thefire broke out at approximately 8:30 a.m. Friday at 2811 E. Ksel Drive (9450 South).

Investigators said the fire has made it difficult for them to make a positive identification of the two individuals. They still do not have an official identity on the man and woman.

Unified Police said they believe the individuals were killed by a third person and they died as a result of injuries sustained from a shooting.

"We are now asking for the public's help in looking for suspect information or information about this case," said Lt. Justin Hoyal, Unified Police Department. "We are looking at this as a homicide, a double homicide."
