MESQUITE, Nev. – Mesquite police made a second arrest in connection with a double murder on Mesquite Blvd. over the weekend.
Officers say they were originally called to the home on Saturday, April 13. When they arrived, they found a 50-year-old man unconscious with multiple stab wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
Shortly after, Las Vegas police arrested 43-year-old Ryan Wood. But Mesquite police say their investigation turned up another victim.
“They had information to believe that there was another possible victim in the residence where this occurred,” says Mesquite Police Department spokesperson Jeff Smith. “So they obtained a search warrant which was executed [Monday] afternoon.”
Smith says detectives found another body hidden in the basement in the home. Their investigation led to the arrest of 30-year-old Jeramiah Juber of Hurricane, Utah.
“We just know that he was involved with the homicide of at least the second body that we found,” says Smith. “We’re still trying to determine what his role was in it. The detectives have been interviewing him and other witnesses.”
Neighbors say the Mesquite neighborhood is quiet and were shocked to discover a homicide had taken place nearby.
Smith says this appears to be an isolated incident and don’t believe there is a public threat.
