Woman accused of killing dog with insecticide

SALT LAKE CITY -- Salt Lake City police arrested a woman Saturday after she allegedly used insecticide to kill her dog.

Kimberley Michelle Davis was arrested at 1363 S Emery St around 3 p.m. According to a probable cause statement, Davis admitted to spraying Raid down her dog's throat, resulting in its death.

Police said Davis admitted to the crime after she was read her Miranda rights. Davis stated that she did it so that her ex-husband would not take the dog, the statement said.

Davis faces two counts of cruelty to animals, a third-degree felony.
