SALT LAKE CITY – Police arrested the suspect in a Friday afternoon bank robbery in Millcreek, and they believe the man may be connected to other robberies in the area.

Unified Police say that at around 1:15 p.m. Friday, they received a call about a robbery at the U.S. Bank located near 4500 South and 900 East in Millcreek.

Police say the suspect entered the bank and handed the teller a note saying he had a weapon and demanding money. The teller gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money and he fled.

Police got a tip that the suspect, identified as Robbie Robinson, was in a room at the Shilo Inn near 500 South and 300 West in Salt Lake City on Friday evening.

Officers from both the Salt Lake City Police Department and Unified Police Department surrounded the hotel and eventually took Robinson into custody.

Detective Jared Richardson, Unified Police Department, said the man could face charges in other robbery cases he is suspected to have been involved in.

“Hopefully through the interview we are conducting with him we’ll have further information on those robberies that may link him those,” he said. “We may have additional charges coming down on him in coming days.”
