West Valley City, Utah -- Music fans reportedly had a difficult time getting to the Maverik Center on time for the One Direction concert Thursday night.
The concert was scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Traffic was backed up on I-215 near the 3500 South exit. There were reports of passengers leaving their cars and running up the ramp to get to the show.
"There were kids that just jumped out of the car and, I guess, were probably walking here," said Ariann Woolf, a parent. "A couple of cars just abandoned too on the freeway. We wondered if maybe people just parked and got out on the freeway."
One Direction gained notoriety in 2010 after appearing on the X-Factor UK. One Direction are Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson.
The show is sold out, according to the Maverik website.
Police officers at the Maverik Center said this was one of the smoother concerts they have worked.
