Man taken to hospital by Life Flight after alleged aggravated assault

CACHE COUNTY, Utah – A man was taken to a hospital in a Life Flight helicopter after he sustained substantial injuries during an altercation in Smithfield Canyon Friday.

Deputies from the Cache County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene at around 6:30 p.m.

According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, Joseph Marcaida, 32, and Kristofer Talancon, 27, were making a delivery for their employer when an argument broke out.

Marcaida was injured and taken to a hospital with “substantial injuries.”

Talancon was detained and held in Woods Cross later that evening by the Woods Cross Police Department until detectives from the Cache County Sheriff’s Office arrived. Talancon was arrested on one count of aggravated assault. According to the press release, other charges are pending against him.
