SALT LAKE CITY --After a 30-minute standoff, Salt Lake Police arrested four men and a woman in connection to a bank robbery that took place Tuesday afternoon.

A witness led police to the location of the five suspects.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. the witness saw a man who robbed a Zion’s Bank, 910 W. 2100 South, leave in a cab with a woman, said Salt Lake Police Sgt. Robin Heiden.

As the cab left, the witnesses followed it to the area of 1500 South and 1300 West then called police and reported what house the two had entered, Heiden said.

"An alert witness for some reason took note of the male,” the sergeant said. “He knew something was wrong."

Police responded and contained the area, then used a bullhorn to contact the people inside the house. Within about 30 minutes, four men and one woman came out and surrendered.

All five were in custody and being interviewed by police Tuesday evening to determine what they knew about the robbery, Heiden said.
