MURRAY, Utah -- Police are searching for a suspect who they said entered an apartment, demanded money and shot a person in the leg Tuesday night.
Officers said they responded to a call of shots fired at the Miller Estates Apartments at 4920 South Lake Pines Drive in Murray. When they arrived, they found a man with a gun shot wound to the leg.
Police said a man forced himself into the apartment, ordered everyone to get on the ground and then demanded money at gunpoint. Officers said the suspect also assaulted several of the residents. They said when the suspect left, some of the residents followed him outside, and that's when the shots were fired.
"They followed him outside the apartment and they were standing in the breezeway when the suspect turned and fired on them," Lt. Douglas Roberts with Murray Police said.
The victim who was shot was taken to the hospital with a leg injury. He has since been released, and is expected to be OK.
The suspect is described as a black man, about 40-45 years old, wearing a dark beanie style hat, dark pants and a black jacket.
