SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah – Portions of I-80 near mile post 153 in Silver Creek Canyon are down to one open lane after a semi truck crashed and leaked an estimated 100 gallons of diesel fuel onto the roadway.
The semi was traveling east on I-80 when the driver lost control on the wet roads shortly before 3 p.m., according to information from the Utah Highway Patrol.
The semi jack-knifed and hit the concrete barrier on the left side, which displaced about ten barriers. One semi fuel tank was ruptured, and about 100 gallons of diesel fuel leaked.
As of shortly after 3 p.m. the semi was blocking all lanes of eastbound I-80. One eastbound lane had been reopened as of about 5 p.m.
Eastbound traffic was being diverted to U.S. 40
