The power was back on within two hours for some of those customers, but about 5,611 customers were still without electricity as of 5:19 p.m.

At about 8:20 p.m. power had been restored to all but an estimated 2,403 customers.

The power outage started around 3:30 and affected residents and businesses scattered around the 84116, 84101, 84119, 84010, 84087 and 84111 ZIP code areas.

Rocky Mountain Power officials said the outage was caused by severe weather. All available crews are working to restore power to the areas affected, but an estimated time of completion was not given.
