SALT LAKE CITY – Four people were arrested in connection with five stolen cars after an officer noticed the vehicles parked at a hotel Tuesday night.

Police said five stolen Hondas with temporary tags were at the Days Inn Motel located at 315 West 3300 South.

Sgt. Gary Keller, South Salt Lake Police Department, said officers set up surveillance on the vehicles and waited for the suspect to return, and when he did another man approached.

“At that time, the police moved in and the suspect outside the car, he ran,” Keller said. “He fled a short distance but was apprehended and taken into custody, and the suspect in the car was taken into custody. That started a night-long investigation.”

Police said they searched a hotel room with connections to the stolen vehicles and found six more people inside.

After the investigation, four people were booked into jail: 26-year-old Kenneth Harley King, 18-year-old Michael Lowell Gillespie, 21-year-old Luis Alfredo Garcia, and 25-year-old Lacey Judea Ramirez. All four face felony theft charges.
