(CNN) — A preliminary autopsy shows that James DiMaggio, the man who kidnapped Hannah Anderson after killing her mother and brother, was shot at least five times, Valley County, Idaho, Coroner Nathan Hess said on Wednesday.
An exact cause of death will not be formally determined until toxicology tests have been completed in six to eight weeks, he said.
DiMaggio was killed by an FBI tactical agent during a confrontation in the Idaho wilderness on Sunday, authorities said. The shooting came after a massive manhunt for DiMaggio that began in San Diego County, California, after authorities found the bodies of Hannah’s mother and brother in his burned out home.
