Comedy show advocates for pit bulls

Posted

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – A comedy show was held Sunday night with the aim of educating people about pit bulls, and event organizers said the breed is often misunderstood.

The Wiseguys Club in West Valley City hosted the organization Stand Up For Pits, and the event included a silent auction, pit bull adoptions, a kissing booth and a comedy show.

Proceeds from the event will go toward local organizations that advocate for pit bulls.

Rebecca Corry is a comedian and the founder of Stand Up For Pits, and she said pit bulls don’t deserve the reputation for violence some attribute to them.

"It really is about debunking their bad rap,” she said of the event. “They're amazing dogs. They have phenomenal qualities. I'm lucky enough to own one, and I think what is happening to them has got to be stopped.  The time is now.  It's been going on long enough."

Stand Up For Pits has been touring for three years with the goal of educating people so they aren’t afraid of pit bulls. For more information, visit their website.
