SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah mother is facing charges after she allegedly left two young children alone in a motel room while she attended a concert.
The incident took place earlier this month at a Motel 6 near 200 West and 600 South, and the children are ages 1 and 3.
Sim Gill, Salt Lake County District Attorney, said other guests saw the children wandering in the parking lot of the motel.
“A security officer made contact with these children and helped them back to their hotel room to only discover this 1-year-old and 3-year-old had been left without any adult supervision,” he said.
The mother, 23-year-old Lizette Salgado, faces two counts of abuse or neglect of a disabled child. Officials said in this situation “disabled” applies to the case because the children are so young. Gill said the children could have been abducted, hit by a car or otherwise harmed.
