PROVO — The BYU football team announced their team captains. Daniel Sorensen and Uani Unga on defense, and JD Falslev and Skyler Ridley on offense.
Three of the four went to BYU as walk-ons.
“I’m excited for all four of those young men,” said BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall. “I think all are very unselfish and really committed to the team. I think our team selected strong players and strong leaders.”
Star players Cody Hoffman and Kyle Van Noy were not selected, but Van Noy gave his support to the team captains.
“It’s a team decision,” said Van Noy. “I’m happy for the captains we have, they’re really good players and really good leaders. I think they’ll help out our team. I’m still a leader, it doesn’t mean I have to be a captain to be a leader. It’s just going out and flipping a coin toss. I don’t think I have the best luck in the world anyways. So, I think I’ll just enjoy running out with the tunnel and being a leader that leads by example.”
