COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah -- A suspect is at large after leading police on a high-speed chase Monday night.

A Utah Highway Patrol Trooper said he tried to pull over a car on I-215 near Redwood Road because of a broken taillight, but the car sped away. The Trooper chased the car to Union Park Drive where Cottonwood Heights Police took over the chase.

Officers followed the suspect to the Extended Stay America at 7555 South Union Park Drive. The suspect then left the car and took off on foot.

Officers said they searched the area for about an hour, but the suspect was never found. They said they do know who the suspect is, and he may have taken off because there are warrants out for his arrest.

"As far as the warrants go, they were drug type warrants and things like that, so I assume that may be some theft type things," said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Donavan Lucas. "But I don't see armed and dangerous or anything like that that's on our CAD system."
