KEARNS, Utah — Police arrested a woman Thursday afternoon after a standoff in Kearns.

Officers responded to a home near 5400 South and 5425 West shortly after noon after receiving a report of domestic violence.

When they arrived, a 46-year-old man said he had been stabbed multiple times by his 33-year-old girlfriend, Tranon Stepter.

“Once officers got here, they realized the suspect was inside the home. We had tried several times to communicate with the suspect inside the home to have her come out and she refused,” said Lt. Justin Hoyal, Unified Police Department.

Police tried to communicate with Stepter via telephone calls and with the PA systems in their vehicles.

Stepter surrendered after about 45 minutes, Hoyal said.

The victim was taken to Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition.
