Residents detain 1 suspect after West Valley City home invasion

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah -- Officers responded to an armed home invasion early Wednesday morning, where they found an unconscious suspect being detained by the homeowners.

Officers said three men armed with weapons broke into a home at 7100 West 3700 South around 5:15 a.m.

When officers arrived at the home, they found a male suspect unconscious in the entryway of the home, and three of the residents were detaining him.

Officers said no shots were fired at the scene. They said it's unknown how the suspect became unconscious.

Police are now searching for the two other suspects. They are described as African-American men, about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, medium build and wearing all black clothing.

At least four adults and five children live in the home. One of the residents received an ankle injury when she jumped out of the second story window during the home invasion. No one else was reported injured.

The suspect at the scene was taken to an area hospital with several injuries.
