COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah -- The Gateway Mall has found it's 2013 Christmas Tree.
The cutting ceremony for this year's tree, which goes by the name Big Piney, was held in Cottonwood Heights Tuesday morning.
The tree was donated to The Gateway by Cheryl Smith and her family.
The Smith's said 33 years ago, Big Piney stood about 6 feet tall. Now, at about 60 feet tall, the tree has outgrown its Cottonwood Heights home. Big Piney will now reside at The Gateway shopping center in Salt Lake City for the holiday season.
Big Piney made the final cut for The Gateway's yearly contest, and will now be featured as the centerpiece during the shopping center's holiday light show.
Big Piney is The Gateway's biggest Christmas tree to date.
