SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – Police have released new details regarding two young boys who were found dead in a Daybreak area home, and authorities are calling the incident a murder-suicide.

According to a press release from the South Jordan Police Department issued Friday, 12-year-old Taylor Wheeler died of a single gunshot wound, and 15-year-old Dayton Gessell died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to the press release, “The Medical Examiner is classifying their findings as a murder suicide.”

Sgt. Sam Winkler with the South Jordan Police Department said they are still working to determine exactly what happened.

“Right now our investigators haven’t been able to say whether this is an intentional act or accidental act, that’s part of the ongoing investigation process that they’re involved in," he said.

FOX 13 News’ Annie Cutler was at a press conference regarding the shooting Friday afternoon, see the video above for her live report.

The three guns found in the home were determined to be stolen. Police officials said they believe only one of the guns was used in the shooting. Police said they are still waiting on final toxicology results from the Medical Examiner’s Office, but they said there were no drugs or alcohol found at the scene.

Police were first drawn to the home after reports of a shooting on Nov. 15, and they found the two boys dead inside the home.
