SOUTH JORDAN -- Friends and neighbors gathered Monday to remember a bus crash in South Jordan that took the lives of 23 Jordan High School students and the bus driver.
On Dec. 1, 1938, a school bus was heading to Jordan High during a snow storm when it was hit by a freight train going 50 miles an hour.
“I knew everyone on the bus,” said Wanda Shields Naylor. “I’ve ridden his bus many times – very, very wonderful man.”
The memorial is at South Jordan Community Center, 10700 S. and Redwood Road.
“I’m just grateful that they’ve done this for them,” said Laroyce Fischer. “Because now we have a place to remember all of them and they were all such special kids.”
